This woodcut was made in 1970, when the scholar-activist was sought by the FBI on charges of murder, kidnaping, and conspiracy for allegedly aiding an attempted prisonbreak. She was later acquitted on all charges by an all-white jury. She continues to organize and speak out against the prison-industrial complex. The slogan appeared in signs and posters across the U.S. during sister Davis' months on the run.

Scholar, feminist, Black Panther, communist, anti-prison activist. This image was created when she was in hiding in 1970, charged with assissting a prison break. She was eventually acquitted on all charges.
