Minnesota Spoken Word Artists and Poets Question the World
Is the United States a "nation of immigrants?" In this remarkable
recording, 16 Minnesota spoken word artists interrogate the meanings of
place, time and identity from the ground of their own immigrant and
Indigenous experience. Curated by nationally known performer Bao Phi of the Loft Literary Center's Equilibrium Project, this collection covers the
territory from tender to angry, humorous to incisive and (in most cases) unpredictable combinations of them all. Performers are: Bobby Wilson,
Juliana Hu Pegues and Tatiana Ormaza, Tish Jones, Robert Farid Karimi, Preeti Kaur, Christy NaMee Eriksen, Marcie Rendon, IBe, Ka Vang, Diego Vazquez Jr., Ed Bok Lee, Charlotte Albrecht, Khalid Adam, and Lorena Duarte. Cover art by Ricardo Levins Morales
