Being based in Minneapolis we continue to be affected by the fallout from the Republican National Convention. The massive show of police force and $50 million security budget has led to a lot of angry reporters, medics and ordinary St. Paul residents who resented being pepper sprayed, arrested and roughed up for no particular offense. This is in addition to the many protestors who also consider public protest to be a protected right. The authorities’ big talk of having intercepted bomb-making materials and terrorist plans is melting away as they have to think about presenting real evidence to justify their conspiracy indictments. We had hoped they would use some of that budget to pursue known war criminals and perjurers who
were in attendance at the convention. These characters somehow managed to
escape justice in time to get back to Washington to fork over our financial future to their Wall Street cronies. Can’t win ‘em all.
